Pinkies together, palms up.  That’s the secret to remember if you want to switch sides while doing basic figure eights with a bo staff.  Be sure to switch your stance as you move the staff across your body to avoid smashing your shin.  I know, I’ve done it.

As the bo staff comes across your body and turns a half revolution, bring your secondary hand with the palm up and place it next to your primary hand’s pinky finger.  From that position, grab the staff with your secondary hand and complete the other half of of the revolution by continuing the basic figure 8 across your body.

Rinse and repeat on the other side.

Do until your arms fall off.
